Backup & Restore
The Backup & Restore page in CyberGuard.ai allows administrators to securely manage system data through export and import operations. This feature provides the ability to back up the platform’s database—including users, configurations, and role-based access control (RBAC) settings—and to restore the environment when needed. By maintaining regular backups, organizations can ensure data integrity, continuity, and quick recovery in case of system failure, migration, or reconfiguration.
Usage Notes
Export Backup
Click Export Database to generate a serialized backup of the current database.
The export includes users, roles, and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) configurations.
Note: Evidence files and other large external attachments are not included in the backup for performance and security reasons.
The exported file can be downloaded and securely stored for recovery or migration purposes.
Import Backup
Use the Import Backup option to restore a previously exported database.
Click Choose File, select the desired backup file, and then click Upload to start the restoration process.
This action will overwrite all existing data in the system, including users, credentials, and configurations — proceed with caution.
Once restored, the system reverts to the exact state captured at the time of export.
Backup Policy Recommendations
Regularly schedule backups (e.g., weekly or monthly) depending on operational activity.
Store backups securely in an encrypted environment to prevent unauthorized access.
Validate backup integrity periodically by testing restoration on a staging environment.
Maintain versioned backups to recover from configuration or data corruption incidents.
